K-1 is one of ten human girls called “baldra” used as servants in the black steel city of Resteth. Administered a daily drug that keeps them in a state of fog, they live an oblivious life of servitude—a life upended the day K-1 hears a voice in her head. The voice calls itself Xabric, and in the dungeons beneath her feet his body is a being tortured over a world-shaking secret. Desperate for help, Xabric convinces K-1 that she is different from the humans that rule her, and the two of them strike a stiff deal: she will help him break free, if he will find a way to take all ten baldra with him.

To help him, K-1 must find ways to escape the dosages of her drug—but her actions begin to expose her. As remnants of her lost past close in, time begins to run out, and soon K-1 is left without Xabric’s voice. Alone, she has only hours to save him and his secret—before not only the baldra, but the entire trembling planet, runs completely out of chances.

I WILL TEACH YOU, THEN is a blistering story of upheaval and courage that mixes the fugue and urgency of Ayn Rand’s Anthem with the steampunkish color of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials. It combines a newborn, water-loving society with the volcanic world it seeks to rule, and centers around K-1, a slave imprisoned by the war that started it all.

The Blackland [Work in Progress]

The power structure in the Tower of Resteth is shifting, and in the weeks following K-1’s escape, a persona called the Spinner is twisting events to her own ends. While the High Senat Rider becomes more and more withdrawn, the Lieutenant Tomie Raines disappears; and those who aided in the escape of the resenne are either imprisoned or placed under scrutiny, hiding secrets that could render worthless the sacrifice of the resenne.

In the meantime, K-1 and her companions must learn who they are and how to protect themselves—and the People of Ravens, with whom they have taken shelter, must toe a fine line between destruction and redemption as they plot their next move. As K-1 and K-9 race toward destinies they could never have predicted, they are joined by allies whom they barely know or trust… And as the world’s eye shifts to the capital of Rise, the young Head Mother Mara must face the sickening truth behind a cutting betrayal.

The Phoenix Cycle Series

  • YA/A Crossover
  • Heroic Worldpunk Fantasy With Various Subgenre Elements
  • Six Planned Story “Arcs” Including 1-3 Books Each

The Phoenix Cycle is a 10+ book series spanning six interconnected story lines which explores the cyclical nature of the story’s world (a universe of which our world is a part). By exploring the upheaval and highly emotional states of its teens-to-twenties main characters, it underlines the meaning of having purpose in the face of the end of the world.

The Phoenix Cycle will experiment with a new series structure; like some popular anime/manga, it will be segmented into single or multi-book “arcs” which will stand alone but also be interconnected. Each arc is marked by a near-complete change of characters, setting, and story. This is intended to keep the reader energized and engaged, while building an underlying, universe-spanning arc that will only be unraveled in the very last book.

My ultimate goal with this series is to bring fantasy and reality into line with one another in the complex vein of Terry Goodkind’s Sword of Truth series, while maintaining a more colorful, accessible fantasy similar to Christopher Paolini’s Eragon.
